We don’t have that answer quite yet, but we did just get a major hint.
Israel-based bridal designer Inbal Dror confirmed to PEOPLE that at the request of Kensington Palace, they sent a sketch for Meghan to consider.
“We received a request from the royal family to send a sketch,” a spokesperson for the label confirms to PEOPLE, while declining to comment on the details of the design. “Unfortunately it’s a secret and I can’t give more details about the sketch.”
The news, which was first reported in the Jerusalem Post, is certainly a left field choice for the Los Angeles-born former actress. Beyond the fact that royal brides typically wear dresses crafted by British designers, Meghan has always favored a more low-key-yet-chic look. In an interview with Glamour U.K, she cited her style role models as Audrey Hepburn and Vogue Paris editor Emmanuelle Alt, both of whom are known for their less-is-more approach to style. Meghan also described her fashion aesthetic as “relaxed California girl” (though she did admit she loves an “opportunity to get properly dressed up.”)
In contrast, Dror’s beautiful dresses are often intricately embellished with sheer panelling and plunging necklines. More catwalk than castle, her signature look is the figure-hugging mermaid hem, loved by brides for its sexy silhouette. A review of her Fall 2017 collection in Vogue summed it up: “Dror is not known for dressing blushingly demure brides.”
And who is the designer behind the daring dresses?
Dror trained at the prestigious Shenkar Fashion Academy in Ramat Gan, Israel. She relocated to Milan for four years where she worked with fashion designer Roberto Cavalli before opening her own bridal label back home in Israel in 2010. Today, Dror runs her studio from Ashdod while the flagship store is in Tel Aviv. “I have been designing throughout my life and began designing bridal gowns after designing a friend’s gown for her wedding day,” she said in January 2016.
Although, very well known in her native Israel, the label is only stocked at one boutique, Morgan Davies, in the U.K. In Meghan’s native United States, however, the brand is more widely available. Prices vary from $8,000 to $10,000 depending on the design.
And while this is the designer’s first brush with royalty, she does have some loyal celebrity fans. Beyoncé and Naomi Watts are both fans of the label: Beyoncé wore a bridal gown from the designer’s Fall 2016 collection to present an award at the Grammys in 2016, and a bodysuit on stage during the Formation World Tour.
Though we likely won’t know who is designing Meghan’s dress until her wedding day, we know one thing: Dror’s designs definitely caught Meghan’s eye.
