What is the theme of the 2022 Met Gala?
This year, the theme is a follow-up to the event that was held in September, 2021, which celebrated modern American fashion designers under the theme of "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion."
The exhibition celebrated the Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary and featured a collection from a diverse range of designers from the 1940s to the present.
The second part to the exhibition will open up following the 2022 Met Gala, titled "In America: An Anthology of Fashion." The exhibit will explore a "thoughtful homage to our country's history."
On the night of the Met Gala, the dress code will see stars donning outfits inspired by the Gilded Age of New York that stretched between 1870 and 1890. Think corsets, gloves, playful textures and a few extravagant gowns (as always).
Who is hosting the 2022 Met Gala?
Each year, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour acts as co-chair with select celebrities. In 2022, she'll be joined as an honourary co-chair by fashion designer Tom Ford and head of Instagram Adam Mosseri.
While Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda will be co-chairs for the event.
Who is attending the 2022 Met Gala?
Stylish stars like Lupita Nyong'o, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Zendaya, Sienna Miller, Cardi B, Kristen Stewart and Zoe Kravitz have wowed with dazzling ensembles in the past, but there's no guarantee they are likely to attend again.
Zendaya has already confirmed she will be skipping the Met Gala this year, due to scheduling conflicts. But her Euphoria co-stars like Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer could well be in attendance.
Kim Kardashian is rumoured to be making her red carpet debut with Pete Davidson, with both stars attending alone last year before becoming romantically linked.
Taylor Swift is believed to be making her first return to the event since she co-chaired in 2016, in support of her close friends Blake and Ryan as they host for the first time.
