After a 10-year whirlwind romance including two engagements, A-list sweethearts Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have officially married during an intimate ceremony at the couple’s Tennessee home on Dec. 23.
After pictures emerged online taken by pal Conrad Carr of the pair cutting a two-tiered cake in their home, fans were quick to speculate that the “Malibu” singer and Hunger Games star had finally tied the knot. In a series of Instagram posts on Dec. 27, Cyrus, 26, confirmed the happy news by uploading several shots of her and her 28-year-old Aussie beau with wedding rings in full show.
The “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” singer let the photos speak for themselves and captioned one of the three posts with a simple yet moving, “10 years later...”
The duo met in 2008 on the set of their teen romance film, The Last Song, and have had more than their fair share of ups and downs after officially going public with their relationship on an Oscars red carpet in March 2010 only to go their separate ways soon after, in August the same year.
“Miley has been super focused on her work,” an insider told E News at the time. “Liam wanted more, but she’s 17 and has other priorities right now.”
After enduring a nail-biting on again, off again relationship for the next two years, the lovebirds announced they were officially engaged in June 2012.
Cyrus told WHO, “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam.” Now, after breaking up and rekindling their romance in 2015, the pair have said their vows in an intimate gathering surrounded by friends and family, with Cyrus’ mum Tish, 51, and sisters Noah, 18, and Brandi, 31, in attendance.
The former Hannah Montana star donned a floor-length Vivienne Westwood gown while the groom suited up in a tuxedo for the nuptials. Throughout their relationship, Cyrus sang several songs that reflected her feelings towards Hemsworth including “Wrecking Ball” and her hit single “Malibu”, which was written about the couple finding love again and returning back to each other.
