A source tells PEOPLE the newlyweds had originally planned to wed in their ocean-side home.
But after the couple’s compound was burned down by the devastating California wildfires last month, the stars moved their wedding to Cyrus’ home in Franklin, Tennessee.
“They had planned to get married in Malibu over the holidays when all of their families were together. After their Malibu house didn’t make the fire, they have been living at Miley’s Tennessee house,” a source shared.
On Dec. 24., photos emerged of their secret wedding ceremony.
The couple were snapped cutting a tiered wedding cake with Miley wearing a white off-the-shoulder dress designer by Vivienne Westwood while her Hemsworth hubby donned a tux.
Images of 'Mr' and 'Mrs' balloons were seen on both sides of the family celebrating.
Friend of the pair, Conrad Jack Carr, shared images to his Instagram Story of the low-key celebration, which appears to be at the couple's home.
In March, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Cyrus was planning a very secret, spur-of-the-moment wedding and that friends and family would only find out the plans at the last minute.
"She hasn't announced anything because she is being very secretive so only their friends will know and at the very last minute," they said.
"This time they are doing everything their own way."
