Charlize Theron, the powerhouse behind the popular crime series, recently slipped up and revealed on the Howard Stern Show that the follow-up season will be dropping in three months.

"Season 2 is coming out in August," she said. "Yeah, can't wait. Deep, dark... it's wonderful."

Despite the fact that the show's creator, Joe Penhall, said the series will air sometime this year, Netflix is still yet to confirm the release date... UGH HURRY UP!!!!

Mindhunter News on Twitter

As I'm sure you are all aware— and if you're not, go educate yourself— Mindhunter quickly became a fan favourite back in 2017. Set in the 1970s, season one— which was based off the true crime novel by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker— followed FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) as they interviewed some of the world's most twisted killers in an attempt to understand what makes them tick.

The unlikely partner's profiled perverted serial killers like Dennis Rader (Sonny Valicenti), otherwise known as BTK (Blind, Torture, Kill)— an acronym which stands for his preferred method of killing. Last season also featured Ed Kemper (played by Cameron Britton) who killed his grandparents as a teenager and later kidnapped, tortured and slaughtered eight more people from 1972 to 1973. Interestingly, the show quoted directly from real interviews conducted with the criminal from his prison cell.

The focus of season two will remain on the interviews of the killers as they further their research into criminal profiling. And seeing as Holden's character is based on real-life FBI agent John E. Douglas— who spoke at lengths with serial killer Charles Manson—we can expect the sicko make an appearance this season.

"He’s probably the most famous of all the criminals they tackle," Joe Penhall said. "Manson is a great example of a self-publicist if there ever was one. A classic narcissist. Fame was incredibly important to him. You know he started out trying to be a rockstar, and became very disgruntled with Hollywood. I think you'll see Holden's growing narcissism, as well as his awareness of how much power he wields."

Also rumoured to appear are criminals like, Elmer Wayne Henley, Paul Bateson, The Son of Sam, David Berkowitz, Wayne Williams, William Pearce, JR and William Henry Hance.
