“We know we can cook better than Josh and Amy," Alyse tells WHO, “but you know what? If you have a bad day and stuff some things up, it's anyone's game.”
Among the team's setbacks were a mishandled praline component for dessert and unevenly cooked spatchcocks. “They were the biggest spatchcocks we've ever seen,” says Alyse with a laugh. “But when we were told we were going home, there was no sadness. I mean, of course we would have loved to continue the journey and been there longer to support our friends, but at the end of the day, it happened.”
Alyse adds, “We're just the type of people who accept defeat and move on to the next challenge. We were happy to have gone on MKR in the first place”
As for their rivalry with Josh and Amy, in which Amy took umbrage when Matt said she was “batting Merrins” after Josh revealed he was a model, and Josh called Alyse and Matt “cheaters” for using jarred curry paste during their Instant Restaurant, Matt says there are no hard feelings on their part. “Away from the setting of the show, Josh is actually not as bad,” he concedes.
What's next for the couple? A European holiday. “It's a big food tour of all our favourite foods,” Alyse says, “then back home probably for some renovating, and starting a family.”
