Despite breaking up, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber are friendly exes – particularly via social media.
Watts took to Instagram send her ex a happy birthday message just over a week after the two announced separation after 11 years together.
“Happy Birthday to this one!!” she wrote, captioning an adorable photo of Schreiber, 49, with their two kids.
Watts, who turned 48 on September 28, posted a throwback photo of herself as a toddler to celebrate her own birthday.
“Another birthday!! #eek But I think I’m younger than this #vintagestroller??” she wrote. “Not quite sure what’s happening here…#eek #70’s #photoop #oldschool #raisedbyartists.”
Shortly after Watts shared the photo, Schreiber left a heartfelt comment on the post, writing, “Happy Birthday Sweetheart.”
Watts' former partner saw the snap and quickly commented “Happy Birthday Sweetheart.”
The Ray Donovan actor made the surprising move only 3 days after he and Watts confirmed their separation to PEOPLE.
"Over the past few months we've come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship," the couple said in their statement.
"While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy."
The couple, who never married, have been together since 2005 and have two children together, Alexander (Sasha) Pete Schreiber, 8, and Samuel Kai Schreiber, 7.
