What inspired you to start singing?
“My grandad passed away when I was 12 and I wrote a song for him in Russian. At my grandma’s birthday, I sang it for the 60 guests, and brought everyone to tears. I realised I could connect with people with my voice.”

How would you spend the money if you won?
“I live with my mum Laura, 53, who is permanently disabled, as her carer. This prize money would mean I wouldn’t have to live under a cloud of uncertainty not knowing what my next job will be or how we are going to pay the bills.”
