Amazon has confirmed they’ll be taking the popular movie franchise to new heights as they’ll adapt J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings into a TV show.
“We are delighted that Amazon, with its longstanding commitment to literature, is the home of the first-ever multi-season television series for The Lord of the Rings,” said Matt Galsor, a representative for the Tolkien Estate and Trust and HarperCollins.
“Sharon and the team at Amazon Studios have exceptional ideas to bring to the screen previously unexplored stories based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s original writings.”
According to PEOPLE, no cast or premiere date has been set, however, the multi-seasoned show will be available on Amazon Prime.
Fans have since taken to Twitter to air their excitement after the announcement was confirmed by the company.
Some are even guessing the name of the upcoming series which still has not been revealed.
