American Idol will return with a big difference.
The original talent show series was once known for airing ‘bad’ auditions which would later go viral online, but that format is now a thing of the past.
“You might have noticed in the past few years, we haven’t really majored on people who are really bad,” executive producer Trish Kinane said at ABC’s Television Critics Association press tour., “because one of the key things about the show is it shouldn’t feel manipulated or fake because 15 years ago, nobody had ever seen it and it was funny.”
Kinane continued by saying that it “doesn’t feel comfortable to put borderline unstable people up and laugh at them.”
However, if there are contestants who are eccentric or have a different voice, they will air that.
The revival of American Idol will return with with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and country singer Luke Bryan as judges.
