Arnold Schwarzenegger and David Attenborough have taken to the podium at this year’s United Nations climate change talks to voice their very real concerns about global warming.
On Dec. 3, the UN’s COP24 climate talks where held in Poland, with UN secretary Antonio Guterres opening the event by addressing climate change as “the most important issue we face”.
He appealed to world leaders at the event to realise that global warming is a very real threat that needs to be taken seriously and acted upon with urgency.
Shortly after, 92-year-old BBC presenter, naturalist David Attenborough took the opportunity to express his concerns on the topic.
“The world’s people have spoken, their message is clear: time is running out,” Attenborough said.
“They want you, the decision makers, to act now.”
In his address, Attenborough attributed the damage done to humans, calling it a “man-made disaster of global scale, our greatest threat in thousands of years”.
In addition to Attenborough, Former Governor of California Arnold Schwartzenegger went against President Donald Trump’s decision to back out of the UN’s Paris Climate Change Agreement, saying the United States was very much “still in”.
Like his character in The Terminator, the actor and activist revealed he wished he could travel back through time and eliminate fossil fuels from ever being used.
“If we would’ve never started in that direction and used other technology, we’d be much better off.”
Added Schwartzenegger, “America is more than just Washington or one leader”.
