Justin, 24, and Sonny, 33, team up with “adopted sister” Maatje, 34. Justin has autism and wants to dedicate their race to his father and brother who they lost two years ago.

Townsville Underdogs (QLD)
Australia’s Lara Croft is personal trainer and makeup artist Hayley, 27, with fiancé Max, 37, and his brother Jonathan, 34, rounding out the team.

Two & A Half Men, SA
Sean, 32, is the ‘half’ portion of the team and races superbikes at a state level. Levi, 21, is a former SANFL player and Jake, 26, was an Australian Schoolboy soccer representative.

Benny & The Jets, NSW
Benny, 28, trains at a competition level of CrossFit along with close friends Harriet, 27, and Craig, 27.

Cocoa Butter, QLD
Three good mates who connected through the loss of a close friend last year, Dylan C, 24, Corbin, 24, and Dylan D, 27, are one of Australian Spartan’s cheekiest teams keen to take on a new challenge.

Unit 5.5, NSW
Personal trainer Philip, 23, had his left leg amputated after a car accident in 2016 but that hasn’t dissuaded the Nigerian- born Australian from achieving what he sets his mind to. He is joined by school friends Simon, 25, and Brandon, 24.

Viking Sisters, NSW
Heather, 39, once raced 21km on a broken ankle and Jade, 30, even boasts the title of current Asia Pacific Spartan female leader. Leah, 33, even built a makeshift Spartan course in her backyard!

Bankers By Day, QLD
Office- bound bankers Alexander, 36, Simon, 43, have teamed up to push themselves in a whole new direction. Pauline, 41, is the team’s secret weapon, an accomplished obstacle course racer.

Stunties, VIC
Boasting one of the most enviable resumes of the entire competition, with credits from OCR World Championships, Gymnastics National Championships, True Grit 24-hour race and multiple disciplines of martial arts, Rosca, 35, Philli, 33 and Richard, 29, will be hart to beat.

Apartment 38, NSW
With their team name borrowed from the apartment they once all shared, Trent, 32, and Steve, 31, are an on again/ off again couple with Emily, also 31, playing match maker.

Zeus Force, QLD
This trio from Queensland hold world records and Olympic medals. Jacinta, 31, was a long-jumper, qualifying for the Commonwealth Games, Phillips, 38, won an Olympic silver medal in the men’s triple jump for the UK and Abdulaye, 25, is an award-winning dancer.

Miracles Happen, VIC
Clinton, 38, and Craig, 37, met at a hospital whilst both their children battled life threatening illness. Jacinda, 42, is a nutrition and CrossFit coach at the gym that Clinton owns.

Sharks Squad, VIC
Body builder Aaron, 29 (who dropped 21kgs in 2016), power lifter Cole, 28, and personal trainer Michael, 28, have one common goal – to be the best in everything they do.

Conquer, NZ
Dairy farmer Aaron, 25, and school teachers Dan, 26, and Jayden, 24, are keen CrossFit-ers who thrive under competition pressure.

Hen’s Party, TAS
Australian Spartan’s only Tasmanian team, F45 trainers Lou, 28, and her sister Beck, 30, roped in one of their students Ben, 32, to apply together.

Two Badgers One Anchor, QLD
Siblings Jessica, 31, and Andrew, 30, are the badgers in the team, by name only. Adam, 33, is their childhood friends and is racing to prove to his daughters that you can achieve anything.

X Games Sydney, NSW
Josh, 31, is a world Freestyle Motocross champion, Jackson, 24, was the youngest person to join the Crusty Demons at only 13 and the youngest person to backflip a full-size motorcycle. Harry, 23, is also the 2015 Australian Freestyle Champion.

Dream Team, WA
Brothers and best mates Alex, 24, and Lewis, 26, are both stunt riders whilst Simeon, 26, moonlights as a stripper

Donut Squad, WA
Dispelling the myth that all cops just drink coffee and eat donuts, the police officers have a serious history in physical activity. David, 27, is engaged to Christine, 26, whilst Matthew, 32, is considered the best cop of the group

James And The Peaches, NZ
Complete rookies when it comes to obstacle course racing these competitors are used to competition outdoors. Tanya, 31, is a beekeeper with over 100 beehives whilst James, 32, and Hani, 38, both have solid rock-climbing experience
