Australian Tennis champion Mervyn Rose has passed away

Mervyn Rose, esteemed Australian Tennis player who was the Winner of the 1954 Australian and ‘58 French singles titles has died at age 87.

Rose was an official member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and was among the nation’s greatest generation of players competing with a number of champions throughout the ‘50s and ‘60s.

While he soared as an athlete, Rose was also treasured as a coach. In his time he trained greats like Billie Jean King, Margaret Court, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Ernie Ewert, Michael Fancutt, Brett Prentice, Eleni Daniilidou, Nadia Petrova, Magdalena Grzybowska and Caroline Schneider.

At his peak, the Rose was ranked No.3 in the world.
