In the three days since the Instagram star launched her Facebook appeal to raise money for the victims of the unprecedented bushfires currently raging through NSW and Victoria, more than 800,000 donations have flooded in, and the total tally of money raised currently sits at close to $33 million, with many more people continuing to donate.
Celebrities such as Pia Miller, Laura Byrne and Angie Kent have called for Celeste to become Australia’s ‘next PM’.
Many others have compared her generosity to the questionable leadership shown by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who went on a poorly-timed holiday to Hawaii as the bushfires intensified last month.
Pia shared a post to Instagram on Sunday, which read: ‘Celeste Barber for PM.’
Laura also used the hashtag ‘#CelesteForPM’, before adding: ‘What a woman.’
