She surprised everyone when she came out of retirement to star alongside pal Jamie Foxx in movie Back In Action, which is currently filming, but it seems issues on set and time spent away from her family has Cameron Diaz ready to step away from Hollywood once again.
The 50-year-old officially retired from her acting career back in 2018 to focus on starting a family with husband Benji Madden, 44, with the couple welcoming daughter Raddix, now 3, the following year.
However, she was lured back to film this year by Foxx, 55, unaware of the drama that lay ahead.
She hates drama and confrontation,” a source told Daily Mail of Foxx’s recent on-set “meltdown”, which saw three people fired from the project.
“This is why she retired from the business in the first place.”
With filming based in the UK, the project has also seen Diaz spend considerable time away from her family.
“These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix,” continues the insider. “Cameron loves being a mum more than anything in the world.”
The film has also taken its toll on Madden. “Benji is supportive of everything that Cameron does, but it has been a lot on him,” the source explains.
Heading into retirement take two when the project wraps, Diaz will likely turn her attention again to her other ventures – including wine brand, Avaline, which she launched in 2020. “She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone,” adds the insider.
