Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little have been slammed by fans of their Hit FM radio show for cruelly mocking the way a listener’s pronunciation of a word.

The pair were midway through a discussion about diseases that can be contracted while holidaying abroad, when a listener named Lauren rang in to share her story about contracting malaria whilst visiting Uganda.
However, Carrie and Tommy barely let poor Lauren get a word in, instead dissolving into fits of giggles over the way she pronounced ‘Uganda.’
“In U-garn-da?” laughed Tommy.
“Why are you laughing, Tommy?” came Lauren’s unimpressed response.
“Oh I’m sorry I’ve just never heard ‘U-garn-da”’, he continued to mock.
Carrie also couldn’t get over Lauren’s pronunciation.
“My mum’s been to ‘U-garn-da’” she laughed.
The pair eventually let Lauren tell her story – however Tommy couldn’t resist jumping in again.
“Was one of the symptoms of malaria that you say your As as Os?” he joked.
The show’s producers eventually hung up on an unamused Lauren, however listeners flocked to Carrie and Tommy’s Facebook page to chastise the pair for their immature and nasty behaviour.
“I just want to say that you guys were considerably rude to Lauren when she tried to share her story about her malaria,” one listener wrote on the show’s official Facebook page.
“I also commend her for giving what you considered ‘attitude”. I would call it sticking up for herself, you act like a bunch of high school bullies,’ they continued.
Another listener added: “An apology is the least they can do. I hope these two individuals take the time to reflect on their choice of words and understand the severity of the situation.”
Carrie and Tommy have yet to comment on the incident.
