Chrissy Teigen has come under fire for her ‘insensitive’ and ‘tone deaf’ tweets regarding her mother’s AirPods.

Taking to the platform in which she reigns, Teigen tweeted her apology after noticing how upset her fans were.
The tweet in question was about her mother, Pepper Teigen, not understanding that AirPods are technically just earphones without the chord. What upset fans the most was how flippant Chrissy was about their wealth.
“My mom treats her AirPods like they’re disposable,” Chrissy tweeted. “Buys a few a month. She says they would be easier to not lose if they had…a cord.”
Being the queen of Twitter, it didn’t take the mother-of-two to realise that she had made an error.
“Oh man, I haven’t checked my mentions for a bit and I didn’t realize how many people were super pissed off about this,” she wrote. “It was meant as a joke (and exaggeration) about how my mom doesn’t realize AirPods are with a cord are headphones, but it came across as super tone deaf and icky.”
Chrissy continued, “I promise I will not always say the right thing in the right way, but I also promise I hate disappointing or pissing you guys off. I’m sorry and I will do better to not be such an asshole.”
The 33-year-old even took the time to respond to individual people who took issue with her initial comments.
“It’s not about how you said it. It’s the fact that some people are starving while others can treat $150 airpods as disposable,” one Twitter user wrote. “I love you Chrissy but seriously, stop pretending this is about tone and start campaigning for wealth redistribution.”
Chrissy replied, “You keep saying this as if my husband and I don’t do anything for society and it’s really disheartening. It was a comment, a joke, a dumb one at that, that I’m sorry for. I hope we have done and continue to do things that contribute more than a dumb tweet. Again, I apologise.”
It’s not the first time Chrissy and her mother have made headlines in recent weeks.
Chrissy Teigen’s estranged parents are officially getting a divorce.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, her father Ron Teigen Sr. filed for divorce from her mother Vilailuck “Pepper” Teigen on November 6.
While the reason for their separation is currently unknown, when asked about the pending situation in an interview with a freelance reporter for Vanity Fair, the hilarious author— who often uses her Twitter profile to roast Hollywood celebs and, of course, Donald Trump— is said to have cracked a joke about the whole ordeal.
As we know, Vilailuck— who regularly features on Chrissy’s Instagram feed— has been living with the star, her husband John Legend and their two children, Luna, 3, and Miles, 1 for some time now.
“Mum is over so much that she lives with us basically and they’ve had this kind of relationship for a long time. And my dad comes to the house every other day or so, he was just over yesterday,” she told PEOPLE in October.
”It works for them. It’s a good family life. We’re all very close, very tight-knit,” she also told Us Weekly, adding her dad, who lives 10 minutes away from them, always drops by.
