The Hong family shared the tragic news via the 30-year-old’s Instagram page, alongside a beautiful black and white image of her in her happy place: the kitchen.

“Chris has passed away on the night of 17 December peacefully and surrounded by love,” they wrote. “Thank you all for your love and support for Chrys.”

“We will continue to post her cancer-fighting journey footage and cooking blogs, in the spirit of spreading the positive energy of Chrys.”

The Sydney-based DJ told The Daily Telegraph back in August that she initially put her sporadic stomach pain down to nerves during filming for the reality TV show.

After her symptoms failed to ease she sought medical attention, only to have two doctors and a specialist pass them off as nothing serious.

Later, a third doctor ran several tests and confirmed her diagnosis.

“The next day he called me back and said: This is really serious, we have to put you in the hospital,” Chrys told the publication.

Sadly, the disease had already progressed to Stage Four and spread to her bones, liver and lymphatic system, rendering it inoperable. Chrys underwent three rounds of chemotherapy but stopped as her body was unable to cope.

Despite her prognosis, she vowed to complete the competition alongside her friend Mandy Chai.

“Who said cancer patients can’t cook,” she said at the time.
