He’s undergone extensive surgery and won’t be walking any time soon, but Australian fashion designer Dan Single “is doing much better,” friend Andre Saraiva tells WHO.

Last week, the 38-year-old Ksubi jeans co-founder fell from the third floor of the Parisian hotel Grand Amour, which is owned by Saraiva, and “shattered every bone from the bottom of his spine to his heels,” according to a report in Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.

He had been placed in an induced coma before he was moved out of intensive care on March 20.

Single, who has a 10-year-old son, Justice, with former partner and P.E. Nation designer Pip Edwards, was in France with his wife, model Bambi Northwood-Blyth, 25, to shoot a video for Paris Fashion Week for their P. Jamé clothing range.

He fell out of the window of the hotel, in Paris’s 10th arrondissement, and slammed feet first into the footpath, causing the horrific injuries.

“The police and an ambulance were called,” a Grand Amour front-desk employee tells WHO.

It is not clear what caused the fall.

“There is no brain injury and no back injury but he fell three storeys,” a source told the Telegraph. “His legs are a complete mess; he won’t be walking for a very long time. He is not in a good way. It’s expected both he and Bambi will have to stay over there for quite a while—because he’s not able to fly.”

Indeed, Northwood-Blyth was forced to miss her sister Sophie’s wedding in Australia, posting on Instagram on March 19: “To my amazing sister Sophie and Volkan. Congratulations on your marriage. Sorry I can’t be there. I love you.”

Other family members and friends, including Single’s younger brother, DJ Beni Single, are heading to Paris.

“Dan, keep on being the amazing fighter you are,” Northwood-Blyth posted on Instagram on March 21. “You got this.”
