David Koch has just celebrated 15 years on Sunrise and if there was ever any doubt he’d continue his role on the show, fans should rest assure because he’s confirmed he’s not ready to leave anytime soon.
Speaking to Confidential, Kochie revealed that despite earlier reports that he would be replaced by Perth-based Channel 7 reporter Basil Zempilas, he’s still very much contracted.
And should he be making any changes in the future about his long-standing role, he’d be opting to scale1 back to only working four days in the near future.
“I can definitely say I am around for a bit longer,” Koch said.
“Two years ago when I signed my last contract I said if I want to renew in future I would want to look at scaling back. It has been in mutual agreement, Seven have been great.
“It takes a toll and you have other things you want to do,” the 61-year-old added.
Executive producer of the popular breakfast show Michael Pell has since released a statement to Confidential. “Look, we don’t comment on contract negotiations. But I’ll tell you this much. Kochie has been loyal to Seven for longer than the record-breaking 15 years he’s celebrating this week. He’s never played things out publicly. I’m happy to say he isn’t going anywhere.”
Good to know!
