Why doesn’t all of Australia have daylight saving?

Not all of Australia has daylight saving because the country’s climate and lifestyle vary so much.

In northern states like Queensland and the Northern Territory, the days are already long and hot, so pushing the clock forward isn’t seen as beneficial.

Western Australia has trialled it in the past, but voters rejected it, saying it didn’t suit their way of life.

As a result, only NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT have daylight saving.

Do the clocks go forward or backward in April?
