In case you are yet to binge-watch the 10-episode dark comedy, here’s a quick run-down of season one. The series follows protagonist Jen (Christina Applegate), a grieving widow who lost her husband in a hit-and-run car accident. After meeting Judy (Linda Cardellini)— the woman responsible for Jen’s husband’s death, along with her ex-partner Steve (James Marsden)— at a grief counselling support group the pair form an unlikely friendship that not only ends in disaster but the death of someone close to them.
While it is expected that Dead To Me will return to our screen sometime in 2020, production has already officially begun – according to a recent Tweet from Applegate, which appears to show a table read.
Meanwhile, creator Liz Feldman has admitted she’s hoping DTM will be a long-running TV show.
“It would be the pleasure and honour of my life to do this show for as many seasons as makes sense. I would do this show forever if I could,” creator and showrunner Liz Feldman told the Hollywood Reporter.
Feldman also gave some insight into what fans can expect from the second season.
“This show will always be a show that explores the dark sides and the light sides of grief, loss, forgiveness, and friendship. So suffice it to say, there will be more darkness,” she says. “There’s an evening of the score and there’s a rebalancing that will take place and almost, in some ways, a role reversal.”
