Esteemed journalist Deborah Knight is keeping her head held high despite facing harsh critics in her very few mornings in the new look TODAY show with her co-anchor Georgie Gardener.
On January 19, onlooker noted Knight seemed preoccupied, after reports that her breakfast show ratings weren’t up to par.
The 46-year-old was snapped in Sydney as she ran errands.
Viewers have shared their disinterest with the show, with one remarking: “No-one is waking up with Today anymore.”
But Knight is not letting it bog her down, speaking of the ratings to The Daily Telegraph she confessed, “That is for others to work at and worry about, my job is just turning up and being me.”
Meanwhile the female duo decided to drop by the Kyle and Jackie O show to discuss the new program.
Speaking of Stefanovic’s departure, Georgie said, “To be honest, all jokes aside, it was a very tough week.”
“They were my colleagues and they were my team last year and that’s been a tricky transition.”
“No secret meetings. I’d actually left town and was quite removed. Obviously I was involved and consulted out of respect in terms of who would be Karl’s replacement,” she added, praising her new co-anchor.
The shock jock tried to ruffle feathers and get Karl to join in on the chat through a phone call.
“I wrote to him, ‘We’ve got the two ladies who do the Today show on, the replacement and your ex-co-host’.”
“I said, ‘We should ring you’ and he [Karl] sent me a picture of Freddy Kruger.”
No word on why Stefanovic would send through notorious film villain.
