Drunk-driver Michelle Bridges deemed a ‘special person’ as her lawyer begs judge to go easy

Michelle Bridges has plead guilty to drink-driving, after the celebrity fitness trainer blew 0.86 when she was pulled over in her Range Rover with her five-year-old son in the car on Australia Day.

Spectacularly, the mother-of-one asked the judge presiding over the case to be lenient with her sentencing because she’s a ‘special case.’

Her representative, Tony Bellanto QC.

‘Over 10 years she is responsible for the Australian public losing two million kilograms in weight,’ Mr Bellato told the Sydney court during sentencing on Tuesday.

‘Now that’s powerful – two million kilograms over ten years.’  

‘A conviction would act as a “scar on her record for the rest of her life”.’

He added that she’s ‘a good mother, she’s hardworking and this has had a most profound effect on her life.

‘It’s a special case, she’s a special person’.

Magistrate Allison Hawkins responded, ‘Are you advancing that there is a special tier of justice to a person who has special standing in the community?’

She then handed down her sentencing, tell Bridges she would be fined $750, have her license suspended for three months. She would also have an alcohol testing device installed in her vehicle.

Outside the court, Michelle told cameras ”I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep remorse, shame and humiliation… and extreme lack of judgment.

‘I would like to apologise to my family, friends and community for this gross error in judgment and the consequences of these actions will haunt me forever.

‘I ask for your forgiveness to my greater community and my family and I thank you for your support.’  

After news broke of her Australia Day DUI, Michelle blamed the stress of her split from longtime partner, Steve Willis.
