Eurydice Dixon’s accused murder could face more charges

Eurydice was 22 when she was killed.

On Wednesday morning, the man who has been accused of killing 22-year-old Eurydice Dixon appeared in a Melbourne county court via video.

The court heard a brief hearing about Jaymes Todd’s activity in Carlton park in June.

The body of Miss Dixon was found at Princes Park field at Carlton North on June 13 at around 3am by a civilian.

The following day, Mr Todd, 19, handed himself into the authorities.

During the hearing Todd remained quiet, with Magistrate Suzanne Cameron asking if he could hear clearly through the video link.

The-19-year-old nodded and said “yes”.

Prosecutor Christina Teague addressed the court.

Teague advised the “extent of the assault” was unknown.

“It’s difficult to know whether there will be additional charges,” Teague said, before asking for asked for an adjournment.

Magistrate Cameron slammed the prosecution following a delay in producing evidence and materials including a pathologist’s report and DNA statement.

The prosecutor blamed the delay on “staffing issues” and the pathologist was “overworked”, but Cameron said they’d be given “ample time.”

“In a case like this it’s really unsatisfactory,” she said.

Mr Todd is currently accused of raping and murdering Dixon.

The case has been adjourned until 22nd October.
