Catastrophic bushfires have been raging throughout Australia since September 2019. The fires have claimed at least 24 lives, destroyed thousands of homes and killed millions of animals – and now, celebrities around the world are donating their money and time to relief efforts.

On Tuesday, the Thor actor told his Instagram fans that he would be pledging $1 million to support the fight against the bushfires.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
The Australia stars have donated $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services.
“Our family’s support, thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia. We are donating $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who are all doing and giving so much right now,” Nicole and Keith wrote on their Instagram accounts.
Pink
The beloved American singer pledged $500,000 “directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines.”
“I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires. I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the front lines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz,” the singer wrote on Twitter.
Kylie Minogue
“Last year I had the incredible opportunity of visiting some of the many beautiful places in my homeland for the first time,” the Aussie pop star wrote on Instagram.
“Returning home to such devastation throughout much of the country is heartbreaking.
“As a family, we’ve donated $500,000 towards the immediate firefighting efforts and the ongoing support which will be required.”
Rebel Wilson
The Pitch Perfect star attended a Magic Millions Polo event on the Gold Coast to raise money and said she was “very happy to auction up a lunch with me to support @nswrfs – thank you to all the generous winners!”
Hilary Duff
The recently-married star admitted she and her husband, Matthew Koma felt uncomfortable about enjoying their honeymoon in South Africa when so many Australian’s were being impacted by the bushfires and they are “coming up with a number we feel comfortable to donate.”
Ellen Degeneres
The talk show queen has donated to three different organisations.
“It’s almost impossible to understand the size and destruction of the fires in Australia. Here are three organizations I’ve already donated to. I hope you’ll donate, too,” the comedian tweeted, tagging the NSW Rural Fire Service, the Australian Red Cross, and WIRES.
Russell Crowe
The New Zealand-born star shunned the Golden Globes earlier this week to stay home with family in Australia, but passed on an acceptance speech for Jennifer Aniston to read on his behalf:
“Make no mistake the tragedy unfolding in Australia is climate-change based,” Crowe said. “We need to act based on science, move our global workforce to renewable energy, and respect our planet for the unique and amazing place it is that way we all have a future.”
The Gladiator star has pledged $105,000 to the bushfire relief.
The Irwins
“With so many devastating fires within Australia, my heart breaks for the people and wildlife who have lost so much,” Bindi Irwin wrote on Instagram. “I wanted to let you know that we are SAFE. There are no fires near us @AustraliaZoo or our conservation properties. Our Wildlife Hospital is busier than ever though, having officially treated over 90,000 patients.”
