A week after Lisa Wilkinson made her last appearance on the Today Show in October, the TV presenter posted an Instagram photo with her family and wrote, “When your kids are proud of you, that’s everything.” That, and a bit of sleep, too.
Reclaiming her morning hours has been “heaven,” Wilkinson tells WHO as one of the magazine’s Stars of the Year. “There was no adjustment. I just kept sleeping past that old 3AM alarm, which is now well and truly deleted from my phone!” She has also been rehabilitating a broken wrist. “ I’ve been spending a lot of time every day in physio trying to get it back to what it was,” she says. “But I’m almost there so my ambition it to get back to doing those five-minute planks I was specialising in!”
In 2018, Wilkinson will join The Project as a co-host and helm the Sunday Project. It’s a show “I have long admired,” she says, “so I can’t wait to be a part of something that I think can only continue to grow from here.”
The journalist has much to celebrate—she marked her 58th birthday on Instagram with a bouquet of flowers. “Birthdays are the best! So much better than the alternative…” she wrote. “Big happy birthday to all the other December 19 babies out there. Wishing you all a knockout 2018. L.xxx”
