If there’s one thing TV producer Dick Wolf loves it’s a spin-off. The mastermind behind both the Law & Order and Chicago (Fire, P.D., etc.) franchises is at it again, with news his latest series, FBI, is due to spawn a spin-off as well.
Starring Missy Peregrym and Jeremy Sisto, FBI launched late last year to solid ratings in the US and was quickly renewed for a second season. Before Season 1 wraps up in the coming months, the crime series will include a backdoor pilot for FBI: Most Wanted, which, as the title suggests, follows the branch of the US government agency tasked with tracking down the most serious offenders in the land. US network CBS will then decide whether to pick up the pilot as its own series – a no brainer, surely.
No air date or cast have been announced yet for the spin-off, but it’s likely Wolf has been planning the new series for a while, having said at the time of FBI‘s launch, “If this one works, I’d anticipate we’d all try to double down in some way. It’s worked before.”
FBI airs on Channel Ten in Australia.
