Frasier dad John Mahoney has died at age 77.
The beloved actor who played one of 1990s TV’s most most famous dad died in hospice care. His manager confirmed the news to PEOPLE.
English-born Mahoney played Martin Crane, the father of Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce‘s characters, for 11 seasons of Frasier from 1993 until it’s finale in 2004.
Mahoney received two Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations for his role on Frasier.
Before finding success in television, Mahoney made his film debut in Tin Men and Moonstruck.
During his career he starred in almost 30 movies, including voicing characters in Antz and The Iron Giant.
Mahoney was never married and did not have any children.
