There have been multiple alerts issued in Queensland, with a cluster of storms stretching from the Darling Downs to the Scenic Rim and Burnett regions potentially producing giant hail stones.
Meteorologists warn of a risk of falling ice balls potentially in the 5cm range in areas around Laidley, Ipswich and Beaudesert.
Weather warnings also include areas in the southeast coast to parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. These areas may also be affected by large hail.
The affected zone includes population centres such as Brisbane, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Warwick, Dalby, Roma, Kingaroy, Coolangatta and Ipswich.
Flash flooding is also a risk over the weekend, with severe thunderstorms and heavy rains over much of the same area late tomorrow.
