Halle Berry has finalised her divorce settlement from her ex-husband Olivier Martinez.
The legal settlement comes almost eight years since the couple first publicly announced their divorce, with the delay reportedly surrounding ongoing custody negotiations.
According to documents obtained by People, Berry and Martinez, who share 9-year-old Maceo, have been granted joint legal and physical custody of their son.
The settlement also stipulates Berry’s agreement to pay Martinez $8,000 USD in child support each month, with the star also agreeing to contribute “4.3% of any income she receives over $2,000,000” as a form of additional support.
The ruling also states that Berry will be responsible for covering the costs of Maceo’s extra-curricular activities, private school tuition, uniforms, and supplies, with Berry also agreeing to reimburse Martinez for any costs he incurs in these areas throughout the 2023/24 school year.
Speaking on the settlement, a representative for Martinez told E! News, “The parties wanted more clarity in regards to Maceo’s schedule and each of their respective time with their son,” adding that the terms of the agreement were “reached in mediation with the parties and their counsel.”
Berry and Martinez first began their relationship in 2010 after meeting on the set of the action-thriller Dark Tide, with the pair announcing their engagement in March 2012.
The former couple wed in July 2013, with Berry and Martinez welcoming their son Maceo in October of that year. Following two years of marriage, the couple confirmed their divorce in October 2015, with Berry being deemed legally single in December 2016.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life,” the pair told People at the time.
Following their separation in 2015, Martinez has been romantically linked to an unidentified girlfriend, with the French Sun-Times reporting that the couple had viewed engagement rings together in August 2023.
Berry has also since found love with American singer Van Hunt, with the couple having been in a relationship since April 2020.
Speaking on their relationship, Berry told Women’s Health, “I just feel fulfilled… I’m a much better mother in this circumstance than I would have been had I stayed in a romantic relationship that didn’t serve me and didn’t make me feel the way I need to feel as a woman.”
