House Rules couple Katie and Alex opened up on last night’s show about how moving to the country helped them heal after suffering a devastating double miscarriage.
Meet House Rules’ Katie and Alex:
Speaking to host Joh Griggs and the other teams, the couple revealed how Katie miscarried twins one year ago.
“We moved out here after we suffered a devastating miscarriage,” Alex explained.
“It’s why we’re here.”
Speaking to New Idea, the couple – who are now parents to one-year-old daughter Hallie – further explained that buying their new home was the fresh start they needed following their tragic loss.
“We went through a lot with the miscarriage,” Katie explained.
“As that was happening it was like, ‘Ok, now we know exactly what we want’. We knew that we want to have kids and we want to have them now and so we set ourselves up and set up exactly where we needed to be.
“I couldn’t be in the house we were living in anymore so we came out for a drive to Gundaroo which is where I grew up and there just happened to be someone selling a house that we knew and we bought it off the market.”
Alex added: “I was surprised how much it devastated us, we had to change lifestyles, perspectives, everything.
“This house really healed us.”
