House Rules couple Alex and Katie have revealed their secret heartbreak after tragically losing their baby twins.
In a new interview with New Idea, the TV couple tell how Katie lost the babies early on in her pregnancy and by speaking out, they hope to bring awareness to people suffering from miscarriages.
‘We lost twins in a miscarriage,’ said Katie. ‘We were just going for our first scan, we found out they were twins and that we’d lost both of them.’
Naturally, the pair were heartbroken. The loss meant the pair moved back to Katie’s home town of Gundaroo and Karie gave up her business for an office job.
‘We had to change everything. I was surprised how much it devastated us,’ admits Alex.
Although the pair initially didn’t want to talk about their loss, with Katie admitting she feared being pitied or accused of attention-seeking, they now acknowledge that it is important to normalise miscarriage.
The married couple are now parents to their ‘unicorn baby,’ daughter Hallie, one.
