After the other contestants transformed her home, House Rules contestants Mikaeka and Eliza have opened up about just how much their mum means to them.
The sisters are particularly close to mum Kristen, given that their parents recently divorced, and their dad is sadly no longer in their lives.
Speaking about just how much Kristen, who is a nurse, has sacrificed “financially and emotionally” for them, Eliza told New Idea: “She’s a very incredible woman.”
Mikaela adds, “With Eliza as well, Eliza was studying, she was in Year 11 and 12 when Mum was studying to be getting her qualifications for a Nurse Practitioner, and Mum as well, just talking about it with her dedication, Mum is not very good at maths.
And while Mikaela laughs that maths isn’t her favourite subject either, she describes how Eliza stepped in to guide their mum through her studies.
“I’ve gotten that gene, I’m terrible at maths, but Eliza would sit there while studying Year 12, and was sitting there and teaching Mum algebra, and algebraic equations and things like that to help her get through her Pharmaceuticals Course to become a Nurse Practitioner.”
