Victorian couple Pete and Courtney have taken out the seventh season of House Rules.

The popular team beat rivals and close friends Tim and Mat, and Lisa and Andy in a nail-biting finale, taking home $250,000 prize money.

An emotional Pete, 32, and Courtney, 31, both shed a tear after host Joh Griggs announced their big win.

The parents to one-year-old Casper were shocked when judge Laurence Llewelyn Bowen awarded them a 10 for their final renovation.

“It is completely numbing,” Pete said.

“It has been a rough ride and an amazing ride.”

Pete and Courtney received an astounding score of 29/30 from the judges while Melbourne brothers Tim and Mat received 27 and Adelaide couple Lisa and Andy received 26.

The dance teachers spoke exclusively to WHO about their big win, revealing one side-effect of being on the show which has shocked them in recent weeks.

“We’re experiencing everyone coming for a drive-by and taking photos,” Pete tells WHO.

“I’ve pulled up and they’ve driven off like I’m going to yell at them or something!

“I did find someone standing on the chess set which was interesting.

“When you open your home to everybody at home, people are excited and I think that being in our little pocket of Melbourne, I think everyone in Fern Tree Gully was pretty excited to have someone on House Rules.”
