Alas some things aren’t meant to be.
On Monday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity, Dermott divulged that he had been pursued by author Jackie Collins.
Dishing the dirt to the resident gossips Yvie Jones and Richard Reid, the blonde sportsman took the pair back to his days on Ernie Sigley’s show, In Melbourne Today, back in 1989.
“I had to interview Jackie Collins,” Dermott revealed.
“So she came in and I thought ‘Wow!’ finished the interview, went to a song and I chatted with her for a little bit — small talk.”
Ms Collins was so taken by the AFL star, her PA called him to invite Dermott around for a “party”.
“I said, ‘Oh yeah I’ll go home and ask my wife’ and he said ‘Ahhh. No. It’s just an invite for you.”
He ended up turning down the offer because he was a married man.
“I went home to my wife then, had I known how that would pan out I should have gone to the hotel!” he joked, referring to the fact he and his Mrs divorced after 8 years.
