The Australian radio star has revealed she hasn’t been outside for two days and her four children are currently being home-schooled as a result of parts of the country being in quarantine.

Sharing three videos to her Instagram stories of her children doing their homework in various rooms of their apartment, Kate said: ‘Home school. Day two of coronavirus lockdown.’

Kate also shared a photo of the view from her front door. Bologna’s central square, Piazza Maggiore looked like a ghost town, emptied of the usual bustle of tourists and locals.

‘Since I moved to Bologna last January, I have never seen the main piazza so empty. On a Tuesday at 1.30… there is no panic here; the shelves are stocked, but the restaurants are empty and the streets are quiet,’ the 54-year-old wrote.

Last week, Kate spoke to Hughesy and Ed after she and her husband, Peter Allen Lewis found themselves trapped in Venice during a minibreak to take in the annual Carnevale di Venezia festival after the city went into lockdown.

‘Walking through Venice… it was like a ghost town last night, even though there were still Carnival events on during the day. The news broke yesterday that they were cancelling Carnival today and tomorrow. That’s huge news,’ Kate said.

‘Peter and I were like, “Hang on a minute, if we get quarantined in Venice, our four children are at home with a babysitter in Bologna. Does that mean we get two weeks of holidays?”‘

Luckily Kate managed to book train tickets back to Bologna for herself and Peter.
