The disappearance of three-year-old British toddler Madeleine McCann in 2007 is largely considered to be one the world’s biggest mysteries.
And eight-part Netflix docuseries The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann continues to shed light on the mystery.

One of the theories the documentary examines is the possibility that Maddie may have been abducted and sold into a sex-trafficking ring.
In the series, private investigator Julian Peribanez, hired by Madeleine’s parents to work on their daughter’s disappearance, says that he believes the girl was sold into sex trafficking. Why? Because, as a white child from a wealthy country, she would have been seen as “high value” for both traffickers and pedophiles.
Trafficking in Portugal is, sadly, not rare — and the Portugal Newsthis link opens in a new tab reports it’s on the rise. Portugal offers relatively easy access to Brazil, Eastern Europe, and North Africa — the latter of which, The Telegraph reports, has had various alleged sightings of Madeleine.
