No doubt Instagram’s latest feature roll-out has left the Influencers of Australia in a tizzy.
From today, the social media giant is officially getting rid of ‘likes’, in a compulsorily move for all Australian account users.
WATCH: Instagram has dropped the ‘like’ feature:
“The idea is to just really let you focus on the content and the experience of engaging without being worried or feeling pressured over how many likes a post has received,” Instagram Australia’s Director of Policy Mia Garlick explained to 7News.
Users will now notice that posts and videos will show a user name of someone they follow “and others like this” below a post instead of the ‘like’ count.
However, Instagram users will still be able to see the number of ‘likes’ on their own posts. And if you are desperate to see how many likes someone else’s post has got, you’ll be able to click through to see the number count.
The move followers Canada, who was the first country to see Instagram implement the new feature.
“We know that people come to Instagram to express themselves and to be creative and follow their passions. And we want to make sure it’s not a competition,” Garlick told Hack.
