Iggy Azalea has called time on her relationship with NBA star Nick Young.
The Australian rapper, who recently celebrated her 26th birthday on a luxury yacht with friends, took to Instagram on June 19 to share her heartbreak with her fans and hint Young tested her once too often.
“Unfortunately although I love Nick and have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him—it’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to,” wrote Azalea.
Adding that she wishes Young “the best’, the singer admitted, “It’s never easy to part ways with the person you planned your entire future with but futures can be rewritten and as of today, mine is a blank page.”
Cracks first appeared publicly in the spotlit couple’s relationship in March when Young, 31, appeared to admit to philandering behind Azalea’s back in a leaked video. “You was 30, she was 19?” asks Los Angeles Lakers player D’Angelo Russell in the clip. “What about Amber Rose, you ain’t never tried?” Replies Young in the video, “No, she knows my girl.”
Although Azalea forgave her then-fiancé, saying they were “good” and the sudden uproar was “part of being a basketballer”, tensions apparently still simmered, with the singer posting these tweets in April.
All was forgiven a week later though, when Azalea intervened to stop Young having a large back tattoo misspelled.
As her personal life was imploding, professionally Azalea had big news. On June 11, she announced she would be joining Seven’s talent show The X Factor as a mentor, jumping at the chance to spent more time in Australia with her family.
“I understand what it’s like to have giant dreams,” she said, “and intend to help other young Australians achieve theirs by sharing my knowledge and developing their talent in collaboration with The X Factor.”
Azalea and Young had a 12-month engagement. Nick proposed with a 10.43 carat diamond ring at his 30th birthday party in June 2015. The pair started dating in 2013 not long after Young tagged the rapper as his crush of the week.
