Themeli Magriplis, Jess Mauboy’s long-term partner and fiancée, has shared rare insight into their relationship, which they usually keep very private.
In lockdown with the rest of Sydney this weekend, Themeli took a snap of Jess hiding behind a deck of UNO cards, and a time-lapse of the pair playing, with their adorable dog, Leo, looking on.
“This whole weekend LOCKDOWN at home with my love aaaaaaand I’m not liking being whooped at UNO 🤦🏽♂️” he wrote.
“Aww bubba I’ll let you win next round! 😘,” Jess commented.
“Yeah right haha,” Themeli replied.
Fans shared their admiration for the couple and the cute post in the comments.
“I can’t with Leo tapping his paw on the cards! 😍,” one wrote.
“Such a gentleman Them….letting @jessicamauboy1 win! 🃏,” another said.
“@themeli89 lift your game mate 🤣 hope lockdown is treating you both well,” said a third.
Prior to the post, Themeli hadn’t posted for nearly a year, with his last picture being a selfie of himself and Jess for her birthday.
The loved-up couple have been together for quite some time now – in fact, Jess first made a move on Themeli when she was only 18!
“I was dared to walk across the room in the club and pinch this guy,” Jess told Show + Tell in 2015.
“At the time, I didn’t know who he was, but my friends had known of him and thought he was a very handsome man. It was a dare to start off with … to go through the crowd and pinch his bottom!”
The couple have now been together for about thirteen years.
They spent the first seven years of their relationship doing long-distance, given Jess’ demanding career schedule that saw her living in Sydney most of the time.
Themeli relocated to Sydney in 2016 to be with her, where the couple still live today.
They became engaged in 2019, with Themeli proposing in Greece, in his family’s home town, Kalymnos.
Jess announced the engagement on Instagram with a celebratory photo of the couple, where she sported a sparkly engagement ring.
“The love of my life proposed to me in his family’s home town of Kalymnos, Greece on the beach at sunset. We are so happy I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. Thank you for all the love BIG LOVE JM & Themeli,” she wrote.
While a wedding and children are said to be in the couple’s future, Jess also remains dedicated to her work.
“Having kids and getting married is something I can visualise, but it’s hard when you’re so deep in the creative process. You just want to give every part of you to the project,” she told Who in 2019.
We can’t wait to see this gorgeous couple tie the knot one day!
