Jim Carrey has spoken out for the first time about the devastating information released in his former girlfriend Cathriona White’s autopsy report.

“When I came to Hollywood to make it as a comedian, I soon learned that the details of my private life would be handed out to the media like free dinner vouchers,” Carrey, 53, said in a statement. “I never dreamed that the people I love most in the world would also be on the menu. What a shame.”

White, who fatally overdosed on prescription medication in September 2015, was discovered dead in her Los Angeles home by four friends after they became concerned when they didn’t hear from her for four days following her split from Carrey the week prior, according to extensive autopsy and toxicology report obtained by WHO earlier this week. She died at age 30.

Details of the circumstances of how her friends discovered her body were revealed, along with excerpts of White’s suicide note addressed to Carrey.

The toxicology report also confirms that the death was a suicide and that White had a variety of prescription pills in her system at the time of her death, including propranolol (a beta blocker used to treat high blood pressure), zolpidem (a sleep aid sold as Ambien), and painkillers oxycodone and oxymorphone.

Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office had no comment about Carrey’s statement when contacted by WHO.
