Have mercy! John Stamos is about to become a father at 54.
The Fuller House star’s fiancée Caitlyn McHugh is pregnant with their first child, Stamos exclusively revealed to PEOPLE Magazine.
“We have the same morals and the same values, that all clicked nicely. So we said, ‘Oh, well, maybe we should have a family,’ ” Stamos said.
Stamos says the couple, who became engaged in October this year, decided to have a child before they got married because ‘he’s old’.
When the actor questioned why McHugh suggested the couple have a baby before their wedding she jokingly responded, “because you’re old.”
Stamos proposed to his model partner, 31, at their favourite place, Disneyland.
The dream proposal included the actor making a short film with snippets of romantic moments from Pixar and Disney films, ending with a scene from The Little Mermaid, which encouraged Stamos to “just ask the girl.”
Even though it’s his first time being a father, Stamos has had lots of practice with kids, especially in his role as Uncle Jessie on Full House and the series’ Netflix spin-off, Fuller House.
“I’ve done every schtick you can do with a baby on TV … all the bits and jokes and diaper gags,” he told PEOPLE. “I’ll probably just do all that stuff.”
