Justin Bieber remembered slain singer Christina Grimmie by dedicating his piano ballad, Purpose, to her onstage at the MTS Centre on Monday night.
Fighting back the tears, Bieber sung: “Thinking my journey’s coming to an end. Sending out a farewell to my friends, forever peace… I’m more grateful for the time we spent, my spirit’s at ease.”
One fan shared a clip from the Winnipeg show, where Bieber lay on his back and addresses Christina directly. “Can you hear me?” he asks and he covers his tear-filled face.
Christina was signing autographs after performing in Orlando last weekend, when 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl shot and killed her. Christina’s brother then tackled the shooter, who turned the gun on himself.
Selena Gomez’s stepfather and Christina’s manager, Brian Teefey, raised over $120k for the late star’s family through a GoFundMe page.
Selena also paid tribute to The Voice singer during her Miami concert over the weekend.
