In a surprising turn of events, Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter have called it quits on their whirlwind romance after just a month of dating.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that “Miley wasn’t thinking long term and when Kaitlynn realised Miley was done, it was a total shock.”
Miley and Kaitlynn’s romantic relationship first blossomed in August after photos emerged of the pair engaging in public displays of affection on a vacation in Italy.

According to PEOPLE magazine, a source confirmed the news of their split last week, telling the publication that, “Miley and Kaitlynn broke up” but the former lovers are “still friends.”
The same source claimed that the two found comfort in each other after their respective marriages broke down.
This is the Slide Away singer’s second major breakup this year, having split with husband Liam Hemsworth in August, after less than a year of marriage.
Kaitlynn split with former husband Brody Jenner the same month.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Miley is taking some time to focus on herself.
A source told the publication that “Miley loves her autonomy and is a free spirit. And she doesn’t plan to remarry anytime soon. Despite her breakup with Liam, she’s actually doing really well.”
The singer appeared to address her breakups in a recent Instagram post, sharing a bikini photo as she appeared to dance away from the camera.
“Goodbyes are never easy… 🖤 but g2g” she wrote in the caption.
Although Miley and Liam’s separation was also reportedly amicable, an insider recently told Page Six that Liam— who was in Australia when the news broke— was “blindsided” by Miley and Kaitlynn’s relationship, as the former couple hadn’t decided on when exactly they planned to tell the world.
The celebrity couple announced their separation via a joint statement to PEOPLE on August 10.
It read: “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.
“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
