Move over, Kardashians! There’s a new social-media queen in town!
Katy Perry has been named the ‘Most Followed Person on Twitter’, the pop superstar, 31, hitting 90 million followers on the digital platform on July 1.
“It’s party time, @katyperry! With 90 million on the guest list, we’re gonna need a really big dance floor,” Twitter wrote on July 2.
Perry’s closest competitor is Justin Bieber, who has close to 84 million followers, followed by Taylor Swift with 79 million.
A tweet shared by Perry on July 1 sums up her candid and humorous approach to Twitter: “Every1 else havin a lit Friday night & I’m here examining the nose pore cleaner strip I just peeled off & I must say, nothing can top this,” she wrote.
This isn’t the first time the UNICEF goodwill ambassador has made Internet history, with her song “Dark Horse” last year becoming the first video by a female artist to reach 1 billion views on Vevo.
