Kim Kardashian has once again been accused of cultural appropriation after sporting braids at Paris Fashion Week and on her latest Instagram picture.

The 39-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s star caused a stir when she was pictured arriving at husband Kanye West’s Yeezy A/W 20/21 PFW show sporting long braids.

Kim’s daughter, North and sister Kourtney’s daughter, Penelope, also sported the same braids for the fashion show.

Fans were quick to take to Twitter to slam the star for the hairstyle, which is typically associated with the African American community.
One person said: “I wish I was as determined to do anything as Kim Kardashian is to appropriate black hairstyles”
Another added: “can you please stop appropriating black culture?”
A third remarked: “Seeing non-black women wearing historically black hairstyles like its some fun trend is appropriation. And what’s worse is when they change the name to make it their own. Remember when Kim Kardashian called African banku knots “space buns”
Kim also caused outrage earlier on this week when she posted a gallery of three pictures of herself sporting Fulani braids—a hairstyle that originated in West Africa – for a photoshoot with Vanessa Beecroft. She also appears to be wearing a dress without sleeves.
This isn’t the first time the mum-of four has been accused of cultural appropriation. Back in January and June 2018, she insisted that she wasn’t tone deaf and actually knew what she was doing when she stepped out of the house wearing the braids.
“I [do] remember the backlash when I had the blonde hair and that I called them ‘Bo Derek braids.’ But I obviously know they’re called Fulani braids, and I know the origin of where they came from and I’m totally respectful of that,’ she told Bustle.
“I’m not tone deaf to where I don’t get it. I do get it… But in no way am I ever trying to disrespect anyone’s culture by wearing braids.”
Kim was also slammed when she launched her shapewear brand Kimono. People of Japanese heritage were angered by the project and accused her of “disrespecting” their national dress.
After its announcement, the huge backlash caused Kim to rename it to Skims.
