As locals and tourists alike prepare to face yet another terrifying day of bushfires in Australia, news of the unimaginably horrific disaster has well and truly reached Hollywood.
WATCH: Horrifying footage shows just what fireys are up against.
Taking to Twitter on January 3, reality star Kim Kardashian shared her thoughts about the nightmare that is currently playing out Down Under.
Sharing a simple message, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star wrote to her 62.8 million followers:
“Climate change is real 💔🌏”
The mum-of-four has also been retweeting clips showing the catastrophic fires, as well as sharing news stories and a message from US politician Bernie Sanders.
“I say to those who are delaying action on climate change: Look at the blood-red sky and unbreathable air in Australia because of raging forest fires,” were the words from the US senator.
However, while some of Kim’s fans thanked the star for bringing awareness to the disaster currently ravaging the country, many were quick to criticise the star – who, combined with husband Kanye West, has a reported net worth of $610 million – for not taking meaningful action during the crisis.
“ur entire family has enough money to stop it Kimberly,” wrote one unimpressed follower.
“Donate some money then,” tweeted another.
It’s a turnaround from a tone-deaf post Kim shared in November, telling her Australian fans she had “some exciting news” – while the country was already in the grip of the worst bushfire season we’ve ever seen.
“Can you guess what it is?” she teased in the tweet.
One fan replied:
“Water or firefighters? We need that right now. Or money? Farmers and people who lost homes and loved ones need money too.”
Kim’s not the only member of the (very extended) Kardashian tribe to cop flack for insensitive posts amid disasters.
Scott Disick’s girlfriend Sofia Richie angered fans just months ago when she complained about the wind and smoky atmosphere in October — a result of the wildfires consuming large areas of California — ruining her hair and impromptu photoshoot.
“Santa Ana winds – messy bun,” the model captioned two photos which showed her posing on an outdoor spiral staircase that was surrounded by shrubbery.
“200,000 people evacuated and 2 million people without power, but okay go ahead and flex??” an angry fan wrote in the comments section of her post. “It seems like celebrities are in their own world and they don’t care about what’s happening. Could you be more insensitive?”
