“I kept it really low, even to my family, because it was a scare at the time and you don’t really know what you’re going to expect,” the mumu of four-year-old Kelsey-Lee said.

“I did see an irregular mole that I thought needed to be looked at. I do have my yearly check, which I think is super important.

“Unfortunately, they said I needed to get it cut out, which I did, and I waited a week for the biopsy and they couldn’t tell what it was.

“Unfortunately, the results came back and they said they didn’t know what it was, and they need to get more cut out. That’s when I started to think way too much about what it could be, the potential reality of melanoma. But I was lucky enough that a week and a half after that, I was cleared and it wasn’t anything serious.”

In September, Kyly’s husband Michael Clarke encouraged fans to be careful in the sun after having a skin cancer removed from his forehead.

Early detection is vital, as 90 per cent of melanomas can be cured with surgery alone if caught early.

“He’s had a fair few too many skin cancers cut out, and just the other day he had another one,” Clarke said.

“It is definitely something we are very vigilant about, especially when it comes to Kelsey Lee. We make sure she puts on her sunscreen before she puts on any clothing so we can be 100 per cent sure she is protected and looked after.”
