A judge has ordered Leonardo DiCaprio to testify in the on-going ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ lawsuit.
Andrew Greene, a former Stratton Oakmont executive is suing the producers of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ over the Nicky “Rugrat” Koskoff character.
Greene claims that the “Rugrat” character, who is seen doing drugs, engaging in fraud and having sex with a prostitute in the movie, directly defames him.
Greene’s lawsuit states that the movie portrays him as “a criminal and drug user with misogynistic tendencies.”
Greene is seeking more than US$50million from Paramount Pictures Corp. and others.
Paramount Pictures Corp. says the Nicky “Rugrat” Koskoff character is a fictional composite. Their lawyers wrote in court papers, “No reasonable fact finder could claim that ‘Nicky’ was a recognizable likeness of Andrew Greene”.
“Rugrat”, who is played by P.J. Byrne, works at Stratton Oakmont alongside DiCaprio’s character Jordan Belfort in the 2013 movie.
Jordan Belfort, who is known as the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’, was a notorious stock swindler and fraudster in the 1990s. He coned investors out of millions of dollars.
The movie’s director Martin Scorsese, who was nominated for the best director Academy Award, has also been deposed.
